AR500 Armor Blunt Force Trauma Pad
When a bullet strikes body armor, the energy from the impact is transferred to the armor. What happens to the armor depends on the type and material. Soft armor flexes and “catches” the bullet, whereas hard armor can either shatter the bullet (steel), dissipate the force by breaking apart (ceramic) or capture the bullet by melting around it (polyethylene).
All AR500 Armor® in standalone configurations perform very well in tests against back face deformation (BFD) and energy transfer and are designed with BFD in mind.

Each trauma pad is specially engineered to mitigate blunt force trauma in case your armor takes a round and reduces the amount of back face deformation that could occur, which can mitigate the risk of injury after impact.
Designed to be worn in conjunction with and behind your body armor, our Trauma Pads reduce the amount of energy transfer to your body, reducing felt energy through your armor. Our patented Advanced Shooters Cut (ASC) matches perfectly to our Level IIIA, III, III+, and III+ Lightweight body armor improving ergonomics with your rifle.

Reduce weight while maintaining the most vital protection
Our Adaptive Plate Insert, formerly known as the Trauma Plate Insert, dramatically increases versatility by allowing you to easily create an in-conjunction armor system, reduce armor size, or add soft or hard trauma plates for heart and vital organ coverage.
One example of a lightweight, smaller armor rig would be to run Hybrid IIIA 10”x12” body armor in your Veritas plate carrier and use the Adaptive Plate Insert with AR500 Armor® III+ lightweight 6”x8” armor as a trauma plate/speed plate to maintain coverage of your heart.
The Adaptive Plate Insert is compatible with both front & rear pockets, and accommodates 6” x 6”, 6” x 8”, and 8” x 10” ceramic, steel, or polyethylene armor, trauma plates, or speed plates. Simply attach the insert to the attachment panel on the inner pocket of your Veritas™ or Testudo™ (Gen 2) plate carrier for your custom configured armor setup.
Our Adaptive Plate Insert will place your body armor at the top of the plate carrier for the ideal right height and does have room for adjustment to ensure a perfect fit. Inner plate retention straps and guides ensure a secure armor fit with all compatibles sizes.
